Fancy Tea Party

Welcome back to this week’s series of 5 Days of Children’s Birthday Party Ideas as part of the 5 Days of Mothering and Homemaking!

For Natalie’s 9th birthday, she requested a tea party. Granny gifted Natalie with a tea set to use at her party.

We went all out on this one. Girlie parties are fun!

We asked our guests to dress in their prettiest dress or dress-up gown, and bring along their favorite doll or teddy bear. The girls did not disappoint and arrived in full gala.

The first game that was played was Pretty, Pretty Princess.

Next up, the girls played dress-up. They did the whole makeover thing, from nails to makeup.

For our meal, only the finest tea party foods would do.

Our menu consisted of:

Foods were served on “silver” trays and with small tongs.

What fun it was watching the girls be all prim and proper while eating their food, drinking their tea with their pinkies turned out, and having a ball!

The next game was a pinata. Natalie wanted a kitty pinata, but I found this tea pot version that would have been great!

We did not have many games as the party was not too long due to other time constraints. However, I did find this link filled with great party ideas!

For Natalie’s cake, I made a tea pot and cups. Each girl was given her own cup(cake).

Tea pot cake and cups

This cake was super fun to make! I baked a cake in a glass bowl (twice, to put together to form a ball), a smaller glass bowl cake forms the top of the teapot. The cups are simply cupcakes, with handles attached. If I had spent more time, I would have made the handles and spout out of fondant, but alas, I did not. I instead cut them out of poster board and had Natalie color and decorate them. The cups would also have looked a bit more polished covered in fondant. But, the birthday girl was pleased with her cake and that’s all that counts!

We ended the day with gift opening and playing dress up.

Have you ever hosted a child’s tea party? Any fun ideas to share? Please do!

Thank you for visiting during this second day of children’s birthday party ideas! Come back tomorrow for more fun!
